Behind the Booth: Comfest 2025

Comfest 2025 has officially wrapped—and what a ride it was! ✨

I started planning for this event months in advance, sketching booth layout ideas, preparing stock, and curating my display with every little detail reflecting Fumi’s identity. This year, I had Tables A7-A8 at Hall 6 of the Kuwait International Fairground. It felt surreal seeing my name on the map again, this time with a bigger setup and more confidence.

The Day Before: Setup Chaos (and Magic)

Setup day is always a whirlwind. I arrived early with bags (and nerves). The booth took 3 hours to assemble: the backdrop stars, the hanging prints, keychain display panels, easels, and carefully laid-out prints and stationery. I kept referring to my 3D booth mockup to stay on track—and wow, seeing it all come to life was so satisfying.

By evening, the booth finally looked like my little storefront dream: soft, earthy tones, warm lighting, and rows of art and products that I’d poured my heart into. The stars on the backdrop gave it a quiet glow, like a vintage storybook page. People even stopped by before opening just to say how cozy and different it felt, which absolutely made my night.

Opening Day: A Whirlwind of Sales & Smiles

The first day? Absolutely packed. The moment the doors opened, attendees were flowing through and I barely had time to breathe (or eat!). My art prints, especially the new character pieces and bear tea party one, flew off the table faster than I expected. Notebooks and keychains were also super popular—especially the ones I didn’t bring that had me sale the display one too.

I was overwhelmed in the best way. People came up to share stories about how a certain print made them feel, or how they’ve been following my work online and were excited to finally see it in person. Some even brought friends back later in the day to show them my booth.

The High… and the Dip

Sales were sky high on Day 1. But by mid-Day 2, I had to put up “SOLD OUT” signs on several items. Day 3, the energy was still there—but I had so little stock left, my table looked almost too minimal. I hadn’t expected to sell out that quickly, and I definitely learned my lesson: bring more next time.

Still, I was touched by how kind everyone was—people still stopped by to chat, flip through what was left, and take cards for online orders. I even had folks ask if they could preorder restocks.

Final Thoughts

Comfest 2025 reminded me why I love doing this. It’s more than sales—it’s connection. Setting up my booth, watching people get excited over a print, hearing someone laugh at a keychain design—it made all those long nights prepping worth it.

Next time? I’ll be coming in with triple the stock (and snacks for survival).

Thank you, Comfest, for the magic. 💫

Until the next con,

Fumi
